Measuring instructions for thigh length stockings:
- Measure upper thigh circumference at buttock fold.
- Measure calf circumference at greatest point.

Contraindications
Stockings may not be recommended for individuals with the following:
- Any leg condition in which stockings would interfere, such as dermatitis (skin problems), gangrene, vein ligation (recent leg surgery), and recent skin graft
- Severe vascular diseases, such as arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) that cause poor circulation to the leg
- Massive edema (swelling) of the legs, or pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) from congestive heart failure
- Extreme deformity of the leg
- For thigh length stockings, person with a circumference greater than 25 inches at the gluteal furrow
